Moving (It's been a long road)

Journal Entry: Mon Sep 28, 2009, 12:55 PM
Still living like a homeless person, travelling from a good friend to another to stay a week or less - finally, after two months of waiting, the german social welfare office processed my application for welfare aid. Without my friends I wouldn't have survived this time in psychical and physical healtyness, and this is something the major changes in my life showed me in an interesting and wonderful way: I always thought I need to get things done all alone, I was quite used to keep things with me until I was done with a problem or the solution of this problem. But sometimes you just need help, and if you've managed to ask for help, there are many people willing to do so.

I'm grateful for those times at the moment, unless they aren't the easiest way to go forwards. I've learned so much in those two last months, and knowing my apartment will be available soon - my first real 'own' place, a little kingdom - makes this situation even more exciting.
That's the reason why I'm not answering much to comments and faves at the moment - my time in the net is limited, and I have to read and do much while my online hours using internet access of friends. I hope I can catch up my delay with the comic and own pictures soon, I just don't have the possibility to do any graphical work now.
So I'm leaving for now, but I'm sure I'll be back soon. :) Have a good time until then...

Something personal

To introduce the person behind the art - I'm 29, illustrator, student of ancient and medieval history, and I'm addicted to drawing, reading and games. It's not easy to describe myself in a way that I don't feel I miss an important thing (or having told to much dull stuff).
After all, as many other artists, I'm depending strongly on special moods to create my art. This may come up by listening to a special kind of music, by watching a TV series, by reading a book - if the idea shows up, I'm able to create the picture. If not, well, that's the time for my other hobbies like gaming.

If you want to know more about me - or have a closer look to my art - feel free to visit my homepage: [link]

Wow! I'm so flattered for the watch! Your ink work is really impressive, I have so little patience for it that I always respect someone who can do it well. :) I hope you don't mind if I watch you back!

*smiles* I feel honored ^^ but I'm sure you have the patience to draw in deep ink, too - for example your 'At the Black Rose' picture must have taken a while to draw. Your stuff has a very original feeling, and that's the reason why I'm watching you now - I'm always interested in styles that differ from mainstream.

I OCCASIONALLY summon the patience, but it's far from an everyday occurrence! ;) I'm so glad you like that one. I'm still immensely proud of it, even though it's almost two years old.
I'm also really flattered that you think I'm original and "different from the mainstream"! :D Going to art school really undermines one's confidence in that area, since it's really hammered home exactly how much everything's been done to death and you have no hope of being original ever.
I think I just ended up embracing my "unoriginality", but I get several internet people (like you!) saying that my stuff is unique and different, so maybe what originality there is grew out of not trying to be original any longer?

Wow, that was a ramble, sorry for spamming up your page! ;) Suffice to say, thanks for the watch and the kind words. I look forward to seeing more from you (both more of your lovely work AND more compliments, that is, I love a good ego stroke from time to time ;))! :D

The feel of original artwork is the thing keeping me at DevArt - to discover a gem through many stuff without own thoughts and own style of many people. I think it's the best feeling of creativity to step aside the mainstream and show something different - although mainstream sells better. Many young artists now concentrate on copying the style of successful artists without thinking it through - and that's a pity because I'm sure someone that's able to copy in a high quality could show awesome stuff in an own style. So this was an instant watch in you gallery ;) (and of course, every artist needs an ego stroke sometimes ^^)

Copying can be a good first step, but it should stop there. I've actually never done much copying (a couple master drawings for school). It's possible that I didn't progress as quickly as I would have if I had done more, but I feel like the end result is pretty okay. ^^
