Well, it's been a time I've been writing in here - the weeks before x-mas I had so much to do at work, and after x-mas it was all the same (plus end of semester at university) so I didn't had so much time left for fun or recreation. In fact I spent the few less hours with playing WoW just to get all the work out of my head - if you're starting to dream of your work at night you definitely work too much :D

And now to something completely different - the every-day catastrophes you're able to see now at any time. If you have a one and a half hour way to work like me you're meeting lots of people in the mass transport media like bus, train or underground. As the weather in Germany's been very bad the last weeks many of those people are sick, coughing and sneezing all the time. Well, but not enough with the possible ways of infection - I'm working in the biggest Vodafone branch office in Germany (at Düsseldorf) and many of my colleagues are sick, too. All coughing and sneezing, as you may have guessed.
Not enough, even at university most of the people there are ill - yeah, coughing, sneezing, all the way down. And there's no activated heating system, too - I'm spending many hours in unheated rooms during the semester. In summer it's okay, but in the winter it's the best virus breeding place I know besides liquid fertilizer in a test tube.

Finally my body abandoned the field to the newest and most agressive influenza virus - I spend one week with sneezing, coughing and wishing to die. Well, my wish wasn't fulfilled, what wasn't too bad, but maybe you understand me having such a wish after several hours with rheumatic pains and no posibility to lie down without pain - oh, I forgot the shivering by the way. I'm just sounding like the worst hypochonder, and after a week with the german totally cruel daily TV program I got any right to complain (I just can't understand that there are people watching this shit voluntarily) - the program directors really seem to think that everyone being at home between 9am and 6pm just need to watch court shows, talk shows and vet documentations all the time (not to forget the shows like 'Cleaning for bachelors' etc). If I wasn't really sick I would now have burned my brains out ... ;) The only positive thing of this Influenza was my cat - she's been too happy with me lying at the couch all the time, so she could use me as a pillow (a thing she doesn't have the chance too often at week 'cause I'm just not at home).
Dear colleagues, please keep your influenza viruses with yourselves now, I fear loosing my mind in another week of daily TV shows :D

Well I think I have to start with this, too ... I don't like doctors and try to avoid them as good as possible ;)

Oh yuck, this influenza is terrible! I actually have some kind of flu and I have the same symtoms. I been fevering so much, I am actually having lose of balance and everytime I eat solid food, I feel like I am going to throw up. XP I am glad you got past it. People seriously need to keep their diseases to themselves.

Eww this sounds bad ... the same thing I had to deal with last week. Try to get in bed, drink as much you can and sleep whenever your body deserves it - this is the only thing you really can do to get past the flu I think ... :) and get well soon!

Yuk! That sounds just absolutly ghastly! I've had relatively good luck in recent years treating myself with large doses of zinc when I feel the first case of the sniffles coming on. As I spend a lot of time in airplanes breathing recycled air, I can understand about being infection-prone. Still the zinc has helped more than not either stopping the flu from getting a hold of me or getting me through much faster.

Normally I'm eating many bananas and apples when I start to feel sick, and this helps a lot to push every virus away, but this one just was faster than me *grin* I felt bad and got into bed, and just four hours later I've sweatened like on Miami Beach in Summer, had feaver and shivered like an old lady. I think this was a Formula1-flu or something like that :D
But the thing you mentioned with recycled air has some good reason I think - we've got air condition in the Vodafone building here and if only one colleague has some illness based on viruses it's really quick infecting all the others ... I don't think air-condition is the best choice you can make for bureaus with many people in them.

Heh heh. I'm strangely comforted and horrified to know that life in Germany when sick is not so different from the U.S.

If I'm home sick (which has been a lot recently), I stay in the bedroom, where I have no television. If I'm on the couch and turn on the tv, I can watch seven hours of solid court tv. Not much of a choice....

I hope you feel better. Cats help.

Well, I'm just watching TV cause it's too boring to stay in bed and read all day - I like reading a lot but especially with illnesses like influenza it's extremely exhausting to concentrate on written texts. So I choose the TV ... we have court shows from 2pm-5pm .. no court TV, but I'm sure sooner or later there will be court TV too ...

I don't feel that better at the moment, I'm sitting at work and I try to get all the stuff off my desk that was gathered by my colleagues last week *grin* I'm just counting the hours until quitting time ... hope you're allright at the moment!
